Property Details

A modern four person barn conversion nestled in the Lincolnshire Wolds, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We've combined comfort and style with original features, such as the original brick dovecote. This welcoming hideaway is the perfect base for exploring the surrounding coast and countryside. You are welcome to bring up to two well behaved dogs. There is another cottage next door that can also be booked on AirBnB. When we bought our home two years ago, everything was in a very sorry state. We set about restoring both our house and the outbuildings to their former glory, and would now like to share our converted barns with you. This listing is for the larger of the two barns, a two-bedroom former dovecote with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing stay in the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside. The cottage is laid out over two levels, and comfortably sleeps four people. The two bedrooms have king-sized beds, with a full bathroom upstairs, and a spacious shower room downstairs. There's an open-plan kitchen/living room and a separate snug, ideal for a spot of reading. The dovecote itself, dates back to the early Georgian era, and can be seen as you head up the stairs. Despite two centuries of history, you can be assured of a fully modern experience, with dishwasher, 42" Smart TV, central heating, and contemporary furnishings. The building is next to but separate from our own house, which you'll see as you arrive. It joins on to our second converted barn, a one-bedroom cottage which is also available to rent on Airbnb. We are located in the rolling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB. This is an excellent location for walking or cycling and is only a 20-minute drive from some lovely, sandy beaches. The village of Skendleby is ten minutes' walk, where you'll find a pub (the Blacksmith's Arms) which serves great food. For big food shops, Sainsbury's in Spilsby is 4miles away. Please note that the barns are accessed down an unsealed driveway which is also used by farm vehicles. We don't recommend attempting it in a low-slung sports car, but our Peugeot 206 can get down it. EV Charging is available for an additional fee of £15 a day. You are welcome to bring up to two well behaved dogs. The Dovecote does not have its own enclosed gardens but there are lots of options for walks from the front door, the house is located well away from the road and there are plenty of fields for canine companions to stretch their legs (Livestock are kept in nearby fields). You have the whole cottage to yourself with a private entrance, but there is another cottage next door (The Stables). Our house is on the same property, but is separate from the cottage. We live in a house on the same property so will be nearby if you have any questions and you may see us in the driveway or walking our dog but will give you plenty of space to enjoy the peace and tranquility of this country sidesetting. Set on the edge of a small village in the Lincolnshire Wolds this is an excellent locations to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy the English Country side. The Wolds provide stunning views with out crowds and are excellent for walking and cycling. The sandy beaches of the Lincolnshire coast are 20 mins away and the historic market town of Louth is a 15 minute drive away. The easiest way to get around is by car and there are dedicated parking spaces for guests. The nearest train station is Thorpe Culvert, which is on the Poacher line (Grantham to Skegness). There is no transport available from the station so would only suit people that would like to come by bike and cycle from the station to the cottage. (Approx 5 miles) The driveway to the cottage is an unmade roadwhich is a little bumpy and can get muddy in winter. (Our Peugeot 206 has no problem getting down it) Please note that the cottage is in a rural location, at the end of summer spiders will be looking for their mates and may enter the cottage.
